In her State Of the City Address 2023, Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez had a dream that in the future, hopes that Ormoc City will be one of the 'Blue Zone Cities', where people is healthy, happy and live a long life.
The 'Blue Zone Cities' is a Netflix movie that gives you advice on how to live to be 100 years and older by looking at five spots across the planet, where people live the longest, and drawing lessons about what they eat, drink, how they exercise and which habits most shape their lives.
“These conditions follow the availability of world class, relevant education and training, good health by practicing active lifestyles and making available holistic and modern treatments for diseases,” Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez in her SOCA 2023.
Following are the five 'Blue Zone Cities' in the world: Okinawa Prefecture, Japan; Nuoro Province, Sardinia, Italy; the Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica; Icaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California, United States.
Gomez also highlighted the cultural development of local government programs, as she feels that if we are to achieve true innovation, this must take place at a cultural level.
